Secular Sunday – Grifting, I Mean, Grieving Widow?

Charlie Kirk’s wife husband was violently assassinated three months ago.

I’m pretty hard on religion and a lot of people are saying her “grieving” isn’t appropriate.  But if I’m being completely honest, if she’s truly a hardcore Christian Evangelical, I’m guessing that there’s nothing deeper here (literally) than her thinking that her husband dying was somehow “God’s plan” and she’s now inherited his role of, uhm, owning the libs or something?  I mean, like most far right Evangelical Christian stuff, her WWE-style entrance is weird as fuck.  But hey, we all grieve in our own way, right?

Saturday Snap – Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer?

Somewhat fitting that a random gentleman was handing out free homemade reindeer carvings at a local pub/Regina institution where I’ve drank enough (rein)beer over the years to turn my nose *very* red.  (Only drank Diet Coke this visit though.)

Wisdom Wednesday – Three Sentences To Disrupt Any Conflict

  1.  What would you suggest?
  2. What would it take for you to agree?
  3. Can you live with this if you don’t agree?
(If the answer is “no”, go back to question #1.)

In 2-3 Years, AI Will Mean There Is Basically No Way To Tell What Is Real and What Is Not

This is a huge problem.  (I think I’m fairly tech savvy but I’m already having situations where my kids are saying “Dad – that’s AI!”  They’re more skeptical but will they get sucked in too as it ges better and better?)

Secular Sunday – Christmas: Behind The Curtain

Saturday Snap – Getting Fancy For Shea’s Christmas Party

Pretty amazing that one of the doctors that Shea works with picked up the entire tab for a Christmas party, both for the staff at his clinic plus the unit he works with the most at the hospital.

And he didn’t cheap out – appetizers, full buffet meal, photo booth, games, DJ and dancing.  It was a cash bar but there was even a spiked punch bowl that people could help themselves to!

And, as always, one of the best parts is hearing how much people love the library when they hear where I work!  (We were behind another doctor in the food line and she was gushing “Oh, we LOVE the library!  My kids were there all the time.  We’re very much a book family, not a sports family!”

“Wow – which branch was your home branch?”  I asked.

“Oh, that was in Ottawa!” she replied. 😉

One of the hardworking healthcare workers in this picture even worked briefly at RPL a few years ago – for any coworkers reading this, can you spot who it is?
