Throwback Thursday – #tbt – Mia Reef (February 2020)
I’ve always wanted to stay at the Mia Reef resort on Isla Mujeres which is on a small island off the larger island and has beautiful private beaches while just looking very tropical.
Wisdom Wednesday – A Deep Insight Into GenX Thinking
@jasonkpargin The new book is out in a month: I’m Starting to Worry About This Black Box of Doom
Sask Election Is Off and Running – What Are The Main Issues?
How to get rid of Scott Moe and the corrupt, tired, dangerous Sask Party is my main issue!
Well, the Saskatchewan election is off and running (oh, bad pun). There are a lot of good takes out there, but it is worth breaking down what are some of the more salient issues as the campaign starts.

Saturday Snap – Multicultural Fusion
Pretty fun event featuring world-renowned hoop dancer Terrance Littletent and two performers who had previously been with Cirque du Soleil telling a story of cultures coming together. Music by the amazing Andino Suns. MCd by longtime friends of my inlaws. And the food was pretty awesome too!
Friday Fun Link – Elderly Comedian

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – On A Roof (July 2016)
Mom and dad got invited to a rooftop thank-you event for clients of their financial advisor and managed to convince their advisor to extend the invitation to Shea and I even though our investment portfolios differed by more than a few zeros at the time!
Recently had a meeting with all of them again and a lot has changed in eight years but not the clear love my mom has for her financial advisor (more than for me maybe?) or the fact that my dad is still wearing the same Rider shirt eight years later (which is probably part of why they get invited to rooftop parties in the first place – not a lot of extravagant or wasteful spending for them which is something the financial advisor said most of his clients have in common – being well-off but living like you’re not. Good advice for everyone!)
Wisdom Wednesday – Counter Intuitive Leadership Principles
A long time ago, a senior leader at RPL told me “I know you like tech companies but libraries aren’t like those companies. We do things differently.”
I wasn’t advocating for trampolines in the hallways and personal chefs in the lunch room but I did wonder “Why” that person ruled out trying some different innovative things.
Fifteen plus years later in my career with different senior leaders in place, I still wonder the same thing…
After working at hypergrowth companies like @Uber and @Instacart, I’ve reflected on my learnings and believe that many traditional workplaces have things BACKWARDS.
?Here are some of the counterintuitive leadership principles I’ve learned along the way:
