Secular Sunday – The McRib is Back!

Saturday Snap – I’m Rich! (Well, technically my mom is!) ;-)

I didn’t put a nickel of my own money during our week in Vegas but did a bit on behalf of a friend (lost at both slots and roulette) and won a whopping $4.75 at the airport on $20 my mom wanted me to gamble for her.

This “big win” was just as I was almost down to zero on that money and right before our flight got called.  (I can see why slot machines are addictive and why that can lead to tragic repercussions.)

Friday Fun Link – “Baby’s Got Back” – Sir Mix-A-Lot with the Seattle Symphony

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – Las Vegas Hat (July 2021)

We went to Shea’s uncle’s funeral in July 2021 and afterwards, gathered at their farm to visit.  The sun was brutally hot so I ended up borrowing a ball cap from Shea’s uncle’s supply and since he didn’t need it anymore, Shea’s aunt let me keep it!

Didn’t think to take it to Vegas during our recent trip but my “READ” hat I got from the Vancouver Public Library got a lot of compliments!

Wisdom Wednesday – “You Lead People and You Manage Things”

I’m also shocked at how many people in high level positions think their job is to manage people.

Believe It Or Not, Drug Stores Are One of the Most Profitable Businesses on the Las Vegas Strip

I mean, when a margarita from a bar in a casino costs you $20 (plus tip!) and you can buy a canned margarita or beer that’s bigger than your head for $4.99 and drink it openly on the Strip since it’s legal to do so, (not to mention buying basic groceries, snacks, pop, souvenirs, etc. etc.) you can see why drug stores on the Las Vegas Strip are making a killing.

Believe it or not, the Mirage wanted $18USD for a SINGLE BOTTLE OF WATER IN OUR HOTEL ROOM (I didn’t take a picture as it was on the counter and not even *in* the fridge cold!) For that price, we could’ve bought THREE flats for that price at the Walgreens across the street!  And sure, getting even a single flat back would’ve been a challenge because of the weight but I’d be willing to do it to save that much money!

Hell, we were even thinking that if we could’ve found a drug store with one in stock, we were willing to buy a basic coffee maker for $25 or a kettle for $10 since we didn’t even get a coffee maker in our room, if we asked for one, the hotel would’ve charged us for it, and coffees from the Starbucks or cafe downstairs were $5 each minimum.  (We did end up buying some pre-made coffee drinks and having them on ice in the morning sometimes instead of buying overpriced coffees.)

Music Monday – “Luck let a gentleman see/How nice a dame you can be/I know the way you’ve treated other guys you’ve been with/Luck, be a lady with me”

Luck Be A Lady” – Frank Sinatra

Secular Sunday – God Works in Mysterious Ways

This is probably too soon and I’m going to burn in hell for saying it.

But if you’re religious, you probably think 45 pilgrims dying and one 8-year old girl surviving means that little girl is blessed by god and not that there is no god (or if there is, he doesn’t really interact in human affairs and prayers/piety are probably useless.)

Saturday Snap – Viva Las Vegas!

Friday Fun Link – Big Elvis

We may see this guy in Vegas and I’m secretly thinking it might be one of those unexpected highlights of the trip based on the YouTube clips I’ve seen…
