Saturday Snap – Sasha’s Birthday Sleepover

Booked Sweet Dreamz Slumber, a local company that sets up tents with lights, banners, serving trays outside the tent, a ceiling light show device and more for Sasha’s 10th birthday party sleepover.

Was cool to have them arrive one-by-one and go downstairs to hear things like: “Oh. My. God.”, “This is AMAZING!”, “So cool”.

Friday Fun Link – Dildo Man’s Dickie Berg Photo Goes Viral

I can only imagine what the folks at REAL and Tourism Regina would do if they had a dick-shaped iceberg appear on Regina’s mighty shores!

Luckily the guy from Dildo who snapped a photo of a dick shaped iceberg near Conception Bay isn’t an official from a tourism agency, just a Newfoundlander with a sense of humour.

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – Drop Everything And Read, Regina Coronation Park (April 2017) #skpoli

By most accounts, Sask Party MLA Mark Docherty was a decent dude.

I know I always enjoyed my interactions with him – when he would come to the library I was working at for events or programs or when I would bump into him at community events or whatever.

Given his background and resume, I’ve even heard him called “The best candidate the NDP never had” (I’ve also heard there’s a story behind why he ran for the Sask Party instead of NDP but isn’t there always a story?) 😉

I also met with him and his assistant ahead of the “Drop Everything and Read” protests after the Sask Party unsuccessfully targeted public libraries with severe budget cuts in 2017.  (Funny story – my main memory of that meeting was reassuring his assistant that it wouldn’t be violent protesters throwing bricks through windows; instead it would be books read on walkways!)

Anyhow, tonight Noor Burki won the NDP nomination to be the NDP candidate in Regina Coronation Park and, with Docherty stepping down and triggering a byelection, I hope that the NDP can retake this seat which was a longtime NDP stronghold.

10 Reasons We’ve Ended Up With The World’s Most Bougie Dog

We got the first delivery of a monthly subscription of dog toys & treats called “Woof Pack” today and as I thought about how neither myself (“Beer of the Month“) nor Shea (“Wine of the Month“) or Pace (“Soda Pop of the Month“) or Sasha (“Japanese Snack of the Month“) have ever had a subscription box for our own interests, how did we end up with the world’s most bougie dog?

  1. It starts with getting our dog from a breeder instead of a rescue.  (Cue middle class progressive guilt.)
  2. He has a custom made golden name tag with all his relevant info.
  3. He also has an Air Tag in a custom holder on his collar.
  4. Probably the first (and worst?) sign that he was going to be a bougie dog was when we bought him Himalayan Yak Cheese to gnaw on soon after we got him based on the recommendation of one of Shea’s coworkers.  Himalayan Yak Cheese?  C’mon!
  5. All of us have stayed away from his kennel in the living room because “Charlie is sleeping.”
  6. Instead of “Regular”, we bought him “Kiwi Blossom” scented shampoo.
  7. We have bought him treats that sound better than some of the food I eat.
  8. We bought him a costume at Halloween.
  9. He got his own stocking at Christmas.  (In our feeble defence, we did not sink to having his name embroidered on it.)
  10. Did I mention he has a monthly subscription that delivers toys and treats to our door called “Woof Pack”?  I mean, who are we?!?

Saturday Snap – 50 Foot Leash = Good Investment

Bought Charlie a fifty foot leash and it’s a great way to take advantage of the huge green space behind our house and let him basically be “off-leash” without actually being off-leash (now if we could convince the various other dog owners that use the space that it’s not actually an off-leash park, that would be great!)
