The Difference Between Obama and Trump In Two Top Twitter Trends

Obama gives a heartfelt, inspiring, intelligent farewell address.

Trump has it leaked that he may have paid Russian hookers to urinate on him.  :-0

(The claim about Trump is unsubstantiated but it comes from a reliable source in the UK intelligence community, the US intelligence community apparently brought these allegations to the President which they don’t do lightly and isn’t it delightful that Mr. “Say Whatever Shit He Wants No Matter How Insane” is getting some of his own medicine either way?)

Music Monday – “Where are those happy days, they seem so hard to find/I tried to reach for you, but you have closed your mind”

Meryl Streep gave a great speech while accepting a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Globes last night criticizing Donald Trump without once mentioning him by name.

He reacted like a big crybaby as usual.  (Hint: There’s no way on earth that the most decorated actress of all-time is “over-rated” even though that’s the go-to word in your limited vocabulary.)

Anyhow, “S.O.S” seems appropriate today with the Presidential Inauguration less than two weeks away…

The Amazing iPad Magician

Wow.

Saturday Snap – Sk8r Kidz

How did our nine year old become a teenager?

And of course his little sister idolizes him and if brother’s a skateboarder, she’s a “skateboarder friend”…

Friday Fun Link – What The Mall Looked Like in 1989

This post is half Throwback Thursday and half Friday Fun Link.

It features cassettes!  Acid Wash Jeans!  Big Hair!  And somebody who looks like I looked in 1989 (okay, the pic is 1991) leaning against a brick wall.

It’s a pictoral history of the American Mall in 1989!

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – New Years Eve Countdown, Iberostar Varadero (December 31, 2015)

Hard to believe that just over a year ago, we were celebrating New Year’s Eve in Cuba!

Kansas Representative’s Son Dabs at Swearing In Ceremony

Saw this on /r/facepalm but personally I think this is pretty funny (of course, I’ve got a nine year old son so I know what dabbing is and I see it every time he accomplishes pretty much anything – “Did something cool in a video game” <dab>, “Flip a quarter-full water bottle so it lands on its top” <dab>, “Finished a glass of milk!” <dab>)

This kid wasn’t so lucky – apparently his dad grounded him for his misbehaviour while Paul Ryan did some good-natured damage control after initially thinking the kid was sick or about to sneeze.

The Most Anticipated New Releases of 2017

Now that 2016 is over, it’s time to look forward to what 2017 will bring.

Releases.com is a site that gives the release dates of upcoming movies, video games and TV shows while also letting users rate their anticipation for various releases, create a personal calendar and more.

Releases.com doesn’t feature books unfortunately but lots of other outlets are releasing “Most Anticipated Books of 2017” lists.

Music Monday – “Old woman, back bent like a willow/Fingers grace the dirt to catch the weeds/You could call her a throwback, Say we know better/It’s all those little lies we tell ourselves so we can sleep.”

This musician lives in my hometown but I somehow only managed to hear about her just before Christmas…

Ghost Highway” – Kara Golemba

Hip30: George Stroumboulopoulos and CBC Radio 2 Celebrate The Tragically Hip

Thirty Canadian artists playing covers of thirty Tragically Hip songs to celebrate thirty years of the Hip as part of a 4-hour radio special on the first day of the year – not a bad way to start the New Year!

I hope these songs get released for purchase – maybe to benefit one of the two charities that Gord Downie was involved with the past year?
