Secular Sunday – Diseases Eradicated By Science vs. Prayer

Saturday Snap – You Up For A Pint?

One of our neighbours occasionally texts “You up for a pint?”

Most of the time he means beer but the other night, he showed up with a pint jar of homemade moonshine his co-worker had given him.

(Apparently the secret is to dissolve Jolly Rancher candies in the mixture?!?)

Friday Fun Link – “I’m sorry, I don’t want to be an emperor.”

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – Welcome Jason! (October 2009)

My former colleagues from Southeast Regional Library welcomed me as an observer to their SILS training sessions that they were doing at the Regina Public Library training room prior to the move to a province-wide library consortium over ten (!) years ago.

(Look at the size of those monitors!)

Filming the Speed of Light at 10 Trillion Frames Per Second

Wow.

Universal Basic Income: Who Pays For It? (Not You!)

Saw this article explaining how the government could pay for a full Universal Basic Income program by properly taxing corporations, wealthy individuals and financial transactions.

The article is definitely worth a read!

Music Monday – “I’m discovering uses for you I thought I’d never find/I could’ve made chancellor without you on my mind.”

Chancellor” – Gord Downie

Secular Sunday – God Didn’t Write The Bible…

…the Bible wrote God.

Saturday Snap – Kids (and Dad?) Having Nothing But Fun

Sasha had her last swim class Friday night which usually means fun and games since the learning is done and the report cards are finished.

Unfortunately, the instructor wasn’t able to get the water carpet hooked up properly so I leapt (crouched?) into action to hold it in place while the kids played on it…

Then we stopped for fro-yo to celebrate that she passed!

Meanwhile big brother had a long day leaving at 6am for a school ski trip to Asessippi and not getting home until after 9pm…

Friday Fun Link – The Best Cover of Every Beatles Song

Is there another band that’s had every song across their entire discography covered completely by other artists?

Impossible to post a single favourite…

A classic Beatles tune…

This song has been covered 2200 times and they picked one of the best covers…

An East Indian band via the UK reclaims the sitar (and the language!)…

Easily my favourite lesser-known Beatles song…

“Perhaps the only Beatles classic that is more iconic than the original”

Steven Tyler would like a word with you…

There’s a reason this is my daughter’s favourite Beatles song…
