Had a pretty wet weekend at the campsite (including a bunch of folding chairs and other stuff getting drenched when a storm blew up unexpectly when we ran to town Saturday afternoon for groceries)
But the rain also held off at different points allowing us to have a couple nice fires and even some fireside Uno battles!
One of her hobbies is genealogy and related, she likes to scan and catalogue old photos.
She brought a thumb drive with hundreds of old family photos which means I’ll have no shortage of photos for future “Throwback Thursday” posts (and many much older than those in my personal collection which basically starts in 2006 when we got our first digital camera!)
She also brought me a print of my grandfather in uniform and I gave her some info about some of his war medals to add to her genealogy files.
A lifelong buddy who now lives in Arizona and who we haven’t seen in years sent me a text that he was back in town for the weekend and wanted to meet for a pint.
I was so excited I booked a time with him, completely forgetting that we’d also planned a family supper for my son’s 15th birthday! (Oops!)
Once Shea gently (?) reminded me that my son’s birthday was more important than drinking with an old buddy, I pushed back our meeting time and we were able to get together at Bushwakkers.
* our respective Covid experiences (the differences he experienced living in Arizona were *very* fascinating to hear about)
* our parents’ health
* our own health
* how are kids are doing
* updates on how various friends-in-common are doing: who’s married, who’s divorced. Who has kids, who doesn’t. Who’s employed, who got laid off or is unemployed. Even sadly, who’s alive and who died.
* Although it’s not imminent, our long term retirement plans.
