Pace’s Kindergarten Class (Revisited)

Just about five years ago, I did a post called “Pace’s Kindergarten Class” where I listed some of the names being given to the children of many of our friends, relatives, co-workers and so on. At the time, I did bit of speculation about what the names of his classmates might be when he finally reached kindergarten himself.

Now, after the school’s open house the other night, I have the answer to my question…

  1. Interesting that the duplication was limited to a pair of Makaylas (both of which depart from the traditional spelling – Michaela) and a pair of Tristans (in two different spellings – Trystyn and Triston – neither of which are the traditional).

  2. In the earlier post I linked to, I talk about how part of the trend in naming is changing spellings from the traditional versions. I’m not a fan of doing this gives the kid a lifelong sentence of spelling out their name for people.

(I also acknowledge that as someone who named their child Pace, easy to spell but uncommon enough that we’ve given him a similar sentence – “Did you say Chase?”, “Ace?” “Mason?”)
