Just what the world needs (and what I need too) – another blog!I've set up a blog called The Universal, mainly as a place to link-dump stories and web sites related to the topic of online broadcasting which is a personal interest of mine (remind me to do a post about my summers selling door […]

Stalking = Playful?!?
It's a loooong story but in our genealogy class, there was a bit of a revolt and a group of students ended up going to the prof to request our final assignment be changed from something that, as assigned, was going to be very redundant and not give us much in the way of library-centered […]
Friday Fun Link – March of the Librarians (Feb 16, 2007)
I said last week that I love getting something in my in-box on Friday morning that I can turn around and use as a Friday Fun Link later that same day. (In fact, feel free to e-mail me if you know a site that is funny, unique or thought-provoking. I can’t guarantee I’ll use it […]
The End of the post-9/11 Era?
Reason magazine recently declared the “end of the post-9/11 era” citing a story linking Zsa Zsa Gabor with Anna Nicole Smith after the latter's death. Hard to argue with that. The whole media frenzy around the Anna Nicole Smith death the other day shows that we're truly back to the way things were on September […]
Web 2.0 – The Machine Is Us/ing Us
A cultural anthropology professor has put together a very engaging presentation on what exactly “Web 2.0” is all about. Randomness (Happy Groundhog Day!)
Saskatchewan Round-UpSask Government Insurance, a crown corporation that provides insurance to all drivers in our province, is offering $180 rebates to safe drivers on their automobile insurance and lowering rates by an average of 5% as well (when we already have the lowest auto insurance rates in Canada – why do you think I love […]
Ha Ha Ha
To combine this as both a baby and a library-related post, I'll go back to an entry from a couple weeks ago where I talked about my favourite presentation from my year in library school which was on the topic of online broadcasting. One of the main points I discussed in the presentation is how […]
Just Another -40 Saskatchewan Day
These intrepid youths, standing outside the SaskPower building, show what happens when you throw boiling water in the air when the temperature is -40 (as it is today…hmm, that gives me an idea!)Here's the Alaskan version.

My absolute favourite project at library school last year was a presentation I did for a class called “Shaping of News & Information Through Technology”. The seminar-style course was offered jointly with the journalism department so we had about 16 LIS students and 6 or 8 journalism students. Given the title of the course and […]
A Big Puck Up!
This is both the worst and one of the best plays you'll ever see in the NHL. Former first overall draft pick, Patrik Stefan of the NHL's Dallas Stars, gets an open shot at an empty net with fourteen seconds left in the game…and misses. The Edmonton Oilers regain control of the puck, make a […]
