Grantland has done a tournament-style bracket to allow users to pick the best SNL cast member of all-time. The voting is closed now but the ultimate winner is probably as uncontroversial as you could get with such a varied cast, storied history and iconic program.
Who would my pick be? Maybe Mike Myers? Dana Carvey? Phil Hartman? Chris Farley? (I made that list off the top of my head but turns out that’s basically the “Final Four” of the 1986-1994 era bracket. So that old line about having a soft spot for whenever you started seriously watching SNL resonates as I started watching in high school when those guys were the shining stars of the day.)
