Music Monday – “Here Comes The Sons?” A Missed Opportunity For The World’s Most Appropriate Beatles Tribute Band

Normally I post a song each week on Monday but this week I’m going to do something a bit different (mostly because every single video of Paul McCartney closing out the Olympics Opening ceremony that I might’ve posted is being taken down by YouTube as fast as it’s uploaded.) But watching that performance (and who […]

Music Monday – “Sundown/in the Paris of the Prairies/Wheat kings/Have all their treasure buried.”

This is Justin Bieber covering The Tragically Hip during a concert in Malaysia.  Kudos to a Canadian superstar paying tribute to Canadian icons but also…gah!

Music Monday – “Shining up above me the jet fuel/Down the road/Lots above with the money/And the silence sing.”

One of my all-time favourite Britpop bands, Blur, has a new single out:

Music Monday – “Heading down to the land of the pines/I’m strumming my way into North Caroline”

Back from an excellent week of camping in Cypress Hills so back to the grind in all manner of ways including here on the blog.  A quick and easy update with one of my most played songs during the trip (which I think I’ve posted before but it’s worth posting again)…

Music Monday – “Can you track the deer/Can you dig the well/Couldn’t quite hear your answer/Couldn’t quite hear your answer/Think I see a rip in the social fabric/Brother, can you spare some ammo?”

Going camping so may be out of radio contact for the next few days.  (Also hoping to get some new drywall and paint on this blog via a contractor while I’m away.) In the meantime, some post-apocalyptic blues…

Music Monday – “I don’t go in for ancient wisdom/I don’t believe just ’cause ideas are tenacious/It means that they’re worthy.”

Saw this meme on Facebook and thought I’d share since June 25 is halfway to Christmas and since it fits with Music Monday, why not post a Christmas song today? I’ve posted this one before but every time I listen to it, I just love it more and more. So sweet and funny and perfect. […]

Re-live TEDxRegina Through the Magic of Online Streaming Video!

Here’s my personal favourite presentation from TEDxRegina last month. (All the TEDxRegina videos are up but as of right now, and just for me (?), not all eight are showing up when you search for that tag.  But that’s okay because I can hold a few back for later posting!)

Music Monday – “Maybe a lonely man/Who’s in the middle of something/That he doesn’t really understand.”

Happy 70th Birthday to Sir Paul McCartney (or is it?) Some of my personal faves of Sir Macca’s songs through the years with the Beatles, Wings and solo…

Music Monday – “I need to be myself/I can’t be someone else/I’m feeling supersonic/Give me gin and tonic/You could have it all/But how much do you want it?”

Yet another example of the “slow an up-tempo song down to make it new” music trick – this time, by Noel Gallagher on his current tour with his new band, The High Flying Birds:

Music Monday – “6am/Day after Christmas/The smell of cold/Car seat is freezing/The world is sleeping/I am numb”

One of the saddest songs I know…
