The abbreviated, Covid-impacted 2021 NHL season began yesterday but it really begins tonight as my Calgary Flames begin their season with rematch of the NHL Heritage Classic that was held in Regina just over a year ago (or about a decade ago by Covid time!)
Man, I hope the two Democrats win the Georgia run-off elections and the Democrats take control of the Senate. After the long delay to confirm Biden as President-elect, this would be the cherry-on-top of delayed results! Less impactful but no less entertaining, I’m also hoping Team Canada can once again win Gold at the World […]
Free Agency Day in the NHL is normally on July 1 bur with all the Covid weirdness, the date got pushed back to today. The Flames signed Jacob Markstrom, one of the highest rated goalies available which is awesome since my team hasn’t had a true #1 goalie since Miikka Kiprusoff. This is as good […]
Okay, now that the Stanley Cup’s been awarded and we don’t know if/when NHL hockey will be back, can I, as a Flames fan, admit that I *really* enjoy watching Connor McDavid? I mean, his defense sucks and I hope the Oilers continue to miss the playoffs every year for the next decade. But man, […]

This game was pretty awesome – both the Flames and Oilers entering with similar records and a chance for whoever won to move into first place in the division if the Vegas Golden Knights also lost (which they did.) Battle of Alberta on Hockey Night in Canada with first place on the line – felt […]
So I don’t mean to turn this blog into “all Flames all the time” but after that unfortunate OT loss in the Heritage Classic last Saturday, it was amazing to see the Flames come back from a 3-goal deficit to tie it with three unanswered goals in the third period last night. The Predators went […]
