Throwback Thursday – Family Portrait at the Library (June 2011)

Friday Fun Link – Library Run “Famous Quotes” Database

I’ve always loved quotations and used to even “read” quotation books.  Now the web has modernized the idea in the form of quote web sites. There are a few options out there but I recently found out that a library system in Kentucky runs its own “Famous Quotes” web site which is pretty cool!

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – Coteau Books Board of Directors (January 2016)

I joined the board of Coteau Books in early 2012 but this photo of the board is from January 2016. Coteau entered bankruptcy earlier this year so this is from happier times and what happy times they were. During my many years on the Coteau board, I met such a wide range of great people […]

Coteau Books Auction – May 20, 2020 #yqr #sasked #saskedchat #yxe #sask #sk

This had been a shitty year for me, even before the COVID pandemic hit. Coteau Books, which was a long-standing literary press in Canada for nearly half a century, and which I’d served on the board of directors of for nearly a decade, entered bankruptcy protection in late February. Throwback Thursday – #tbt – “Reader Pride” Wrap-Up (June 2008)

Some stock up on toilet paper, some stock up on booze – why not stock up on reading material?

Saturday Snap – Family (Un)Literacy Night: Some Highlights

Walked Sasha over to her school’s Family Literacy Night earlier this week and we didn’t even read one story at the “Reading Activity Station” but we sure had fun playing with the stuffed animals and telling stories using crazy voices. One mom sort of glared at us goofing around and I was this close to […]

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – Readers Are Leaders (March 2014)

Speaking of the importance of being surrounded by books from an early age…

It’s Okay To Have Too Many Books, In Fact, It May Be Beneficial

After a lifetime as a reader, studying English in undergrad, working with book publishers and writers across two provinces, attending book & publishing conferences where advanced reading copies are given out freely, even hitting way too many charity book sales and garage sales in my life, I suspect I own roughly a thousand books. How […]

“You ar a good liberein”

Shea and I did a pretty major weeding of our kids’ book collections recently and I ended up giving a bunch to one of the teachers who regularly comes into my library (who also happens to teach at the school my kids go to so I have a soft spot for that school to begin […]
