Saturday Snap – A Historic Document!

Shea and I were cleaning out the basement today and came across the note I’d sent her mom acknowledging receipt of a damage deposit before Shea moved into a condo my family owned by U of R.

I always joke that Shea couldn’t pay her rent one month and next thing I knew, we were married! 😉 But the reality is that we were pretty lucky to get to live together and know each other as friends before friends turned to something more.

Another ongoing joke is that Shea’s mom still doesn’t know when we started dating because of how that transition happened! I can now confirm it was sometime after May 19, 1997!

Oh, and a very cool coincidence – ten years to the day after this note is dated – May 19, 2007 – is when Pace was born!

Must’ve been fate! 😉

Friday Fun Link – 40 Song Xmas Song Medley

If, like me, you’re not quite ready to let Christmas go for another year, here’s a video medley of a bunch of different Christmas songs (bonus for the number of UK-centric Christmas songs that are a bit less well known on this side of the pond):

Which Book Made The Most “Best of” Lists in 2012?

This is an interesting way to determine the best book of the year – see which book(s) made the most “Best of” lists?  (Kind of like using Google PageRank algorithm but for book lists!)  Of course the book on the most lists is one I hadn’t heard of – bad librarian, bad!

In my own defense, I have read many of the others that were on multiple lists – “The Fault in Our Stars”, “Gone Girl”, “Beyond the Beautiful Forevers”, etc.

On that note, I (and others) really miss Fimoculous.com’s aggregation of the “Best of” lists of the year.

My Annual Christmas Blasphemy Tradition

Because what’s Christmas without tradition? (I evidently like tradition!)

Merry Christmas 2012!

It’s A Girl!

A pretty awesome Christmas gift!

Shea and I got to find out the sex of our baby at the same time our parents did earlier tonight.

During our last ultrasound, we got the tech to put the sex of the baby in a sealed envelope then handed that to a trusted friend along with a blue and pink jumper and instructions to wrap the right one!  Then Shea, Pace & I opened that very special present together on Christmas Eve along with the rest of our family.

Video to follow once I figure out how to edit out Pace’s tantrum when he realises he’s going to have a sister instead of a brother! 😉

Friday Fun Link – #yqr Self-Guided Twinkle Tour

The Centre of the Arts is running a “12 Tickets of Christmas” series on FB for free concert tickets each day.  The other day they asked people to submit the location of the best Christmas lights they’d seen in Regina to enter that day’s draw.

Later that day, I also came across this on Twitter – a Google Maps mash-up of some of the best light displays in Regina.

I mentioned this mash-up on the original FB thread which got me a shout out from the Centre of the Arts in return.

According to this article, not really.
