Instead of just posting a random picture from the past, I thought I’d try something new and post a link to a long ago article to take advantage of the fact that I have kept this blog going for nearly twenty years (!) which means its going to qualify for a pension soon!
I’ve basically lived near it for 50+ years. But in all my trips through the Qu’Appelle Valley, had never walked the Stations of the Cross at Lebret.
Of course, being an atheist, I also had no desire to climb it for religious reasons.
But perhaps I was inspired by the new Pope being named. Or a visit to see my parents in Indian Head which reminded me of so many fond childhood memories spent climbing the sides of the Qu’Appelle Valley by our farm (most notably, the “Hogs Back” hill.) Or a related factor – feeling sentimental after my dad completed the sale of our family farm earlier this year which means I no longer have the option to climb the hills of our family farm like I used to.
Or maybe it was just a curiosity to see if I could do it, on one of the hottest days of the year, without even a bottle of water, this overweight middle-aged man pulled over and began climbing!
I made it with a couple stops on the way up to catch my breathe. If asked, I would say the only miracle that occurred is that I made it to the top and back down again without suffering a heart attack. But I did think it was a bit too coincidental that this warning popped up on my watch right around the time I reached the summit!
Really fallen into a trap of not doing daily posts but instead, falling a week behind then doing a catch-up flurry of multiple posts. C’mon AI – hurry and take over this weird self-imposed responsibility! 😉
Needs one section added in the middle showing about half a dozen shadowy figures behind the guy with the briefcase that’s labeled: “The questions about the wrong things.”
Think about it. How many times have you wanted something or wanted to achieve a certain goal and no one supported you? But when you accomplish this goal everyone is happy and congratulates you? It’s not who you need in your life.
I’ve trained my TikTok algorithm to show me every possible mime video from Sea World (?) and it’s unreal how much I enjoy every single one, no matter how often I see similar scenarios or certain actions repeated since the people’s reactions are actually what make these so enjoyable.
