Legends of Hockey: The New York Islanders

When I started following hockey as a young kid around the age seven or eight, the Islanders were the best team in the league. (Interestingly, I clearly remember friends who cheered for Boston, Toronto, Montreal, Chicago, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Philadephia but no one else seemed to have latched on to the Islanders which is another reason […]

107 Year Old Irish Farmer Reflects on Changes He’s Seen (1967 Interview)

The single best presentation I did in library school was on the evolution of streaming video online and how it’s biggest benefit was how online video eliminates constraints of both time and distance that all previous dominant mass communications mediums – radio, television – suffered from. Like most 70s kids, I was pretty obsessed with […]

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – Echo Lake Summer (Summer 2017)

A video I cut of the many highlights of the first year we had a seasonal camp site at Echo Lake Provincial Park.  A year of Covid really makes you appreciate all these little moments – having various family and friends to our campsite, shared meals, laughs around the campfire, sleepovers, meeting random strangers.

Music Monday – “So while you sit back and wonder why/I got this fucking thorn in my side/Oh my God, it’s a mirage/I’m tellin’ y’all, it’s a sabotage”

Shea and I recently watched the Beastie Boys documentary on AppleTV+ and really enjoyed it. “Sabotage” – Beastie Boys

Nanoleaf Aurora Light Panels

I haven’t hidden my ongoing interest in smart devices.  One product that caught my attention were Nanoleaf light panels but even by smart device standards, they’re pretty pricey.  Fortunately, I set-up an alert on Facebook Marketplace and the other day, I found a young guy who was selling not just one but two sets which […]

Music Monday – “I want a new drug, one that won’t make me sick/One that won’t make me crash my car/Or make me feel three-feet thick/I want a new drug, one that won’t hurt my head/One that won’t make my mouth too dry/Or make my eyes too red”

Every single thing I felt in the days after being vaccinated are things I might feel on a typical day – slight headache, minor fatigue, achy muscles, etc. – so overall, think I faired quite well! 😉 “I Want A New Drug” – Huey Lewis

Secular Sunday – The Dangers of Religious Misinformation Around Covid Vaccines

Music Monday – “Do you call it as you see it and you’ve always been that way?/Are you reminiscent of how things were back in the day?/Are you agitated with the young’uns always wanting change?/Well here’s your invite to a group of folks like you and me”

“Support Local” takes many forms.  With the lack of live music, why not support a local musician or band by buying their songs (especially a timely one like this one which also has a great video!)   “Pity Party – Blake Berglund
