FTRW 2010 – Running Back To Saskatoon

I thought somebody (the CLA Committee on Intellectual Freedom?) released an annual report on book challenges during the past year.  I wasn't able to find it but the official site for Freedom to Read does have a list highlighting 100 different books that have been challenged in the past decade.  One entry in particular caught […]

Saturday Snap – I'm Ready For My Close-Up, Mr. DeMille!

SaskTel Max, a Saskatchewan-based cable TV service has a feature where they have local content available on-demand for their subscribers.  This might be a clip profiling an upcoming festival or visiting a few of the best known restaurants around town.  Or, in a week or two, it will include a guided tour to the services […]

Regina: Infinite Horizons

The City of Regina announced a new marketing campaign/brand/slogan earlier this week – “Regina: Infinite Horizons“.  As you'd expect for anything like this, reaction was mixed with some people (eg. the mayor) loving it and some people (everybody else) hating it.  I gotta admit – I kinda like it.  I like the Web 2.0-y logo.  […]

What Is The Most Physically Beautiful Book You Own?

Not sure what my personal answer would be – maybe the print version of the Encylopedia of Saskatchewan?   It's a massive book that's beautifully designed with tons of photos, charts and highly readable entries.  Great for browsing.  (via Reddit)

Saturday Snap – RPL Joins SILS (from local CTV station)

Used a poor man's hack (point iPhone at TV) to get a clip from our local TV news about RPL joining our new province-wide consortium onto YouTube.  Sorry for the crappy sound…

Regina Public Library Joins SILS

Today was the big day when RPL joined three other library systems within the province who had already gone live as part of a province-wide library system called the Saskatchewan Information and Library Services consortium (SILS).  By the end of the year, SILS will be comprised of a total of ten library systems covering the […]

Friday Fun Link – Fuck This Weather (January 8, 2010)

Appropriate for the first FFL of 2010 on a day where the mercury dropped to -48 with windchill (aka “hmmm, I did not realise that you could get frostbite there.”)

Saturday Snap – Sparkle Tour Highlight

This home was one of the highlights of our sparkle tour in my hometown tonight.  (We're having Early Christmas with my parents this weekend then going to Shea's parents' for the actual day.)

Regina Public Library Upgrading to New System

The launch of the province-wide library system, SILS, is getting more and more media attention with Saskatoon being the first system to go live next week.  Here's an article from our local daily newspaper about the new arrangement.   Not sure if I mentioned this before but I think that with over 300 branches involved across […]
