Pace is really into skateboarding now so it was interesting to come across this picture from when he was five which is probably the first time he ever tried out a skateboard. This was taken in the backyard of one of Shea’s friends whose husband is also really into skateboarding and other extreme sports.
I had an important meeting at work yesterday so took Sasha to daycare even though she wasn’t feeling great (probably caught what I had last week) which is usually a big no-no. Luckily, my parents happened to be up in the city running errands so they were able to retrieve her before she had to […]
Yesterday was the last day of the Saskatchewan Transportation Company which was shuttered as part of the Sask Party’s extreme cuts in their last budget. Founded in 1946 by Tommy Douglas’ CCF government as a way to connect and serve a widely distributed and (at the time) mostly rural province, STC hit highs for ridership in the […]
A group of eight of us were very excited to take in the “Canada 150” Edition of the RCMP Musical Ride last night, not least of which because Shea’s cousin’s husband is an RCMP member who has been training for the last couple years so that he could be riding in the Tattoo for this […]
I didn’t post over the weekend as we were camping at our seasonal site at Echo Valley Provincial Park. We’ve had our camper for three years (two full summers since we bought it in August of our first year) but so far, we’ve only done quick hit trips – a week here, a weekend there. Shea’s folks […]
Being “all libraries, all the time” for the past month has meant there’s been a serious lack of cute kid pictures on this blog. Here’s a couple to rectify the situation…
Happy Birthday to my Dad! Here’s a pic from a month ago on another happy day (though it’s hard to tell from the look on Pace’s face)… Unfortunately, we weren’t able to celebrate dad’s birthday *in* Mexico like we were able to do for my mom a month and a half ago…
I made a quick video of some of the highlights from the DEARSask protests that happened on Friday. These read-ins saw nearly 6000 people at 85 sites across the province protesting the drastic cuts to the province’s public libraries. My biggest problem making this video? Way too many pictures to choose from! So this video includes a […]
Since the Saskatchewan Provincial Budget was announced last week, it’s pretty amazing to see the groundswell of protest at some of the most egregious and harmful cuts, especially to the province’s historic, innovative and world renowned public library system. For example, one Facebook group that sprang up is quickly approaching 4000 members after less than a […]
When we did a family photo shoot in 2011, we decided to use downtown as our location which naturally led us to include a few shots around my employer, Regina Public Library.
