Music Monday – “We’re gonna spite our noses/Right off of our faces/There won’t be nothin’ but big old hearts/Dancin’ in our eyes.”

Any woman who would let me play this song as a “Last Dance” song at the end of the night during our wedding reception (to counter-point our first dance song) is okay by me. Happy Valentine’s Day, Shea!  Love you very much! “In Spite Of Ourselves” – John Prine

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – Fantasyland Hotel (February 2014)

With international travel still a bit uncertain (especially if you ended up having to extend your stay due to a positive test at the destination or isolate when you got home), we’ve decided to book a trip to Edmonton where we haven’t been since 2014.  We leave in a week and are getting pretty excited…

Secular Sunday – 10 Facts About Atheists

I resemble some of these remarks… Where do atheists find meaning in life? Like a majority of Americans, most atheists mentioned “family” as a source of meaning when Pew Research Center asked an open-ended question about this in a 2017 survey. But atheists were far more likely than Christians to describe hobbies as meaningful or satisfying (26% vs. […]

Saturday Snap – #WhyIMissedTheProtestForFreedom #FluTrucksKlan

First, my wife and I took our daughter to her art class where she created and learned with about ten other kids… Before her class started, we went into the centre’s art gallery to check out the latest installation.  We enjoyed this show with a handful of other people who were in the gallery including […]

A Few Random Covid Thoughts

A coworker observed that an occupational hazard of working in a place where we hand out rapid tests kits is the risk of people over sharing *why* they want the tests.  This gives you this wild anecdotal taste of how widespread Covid is right now – business owners, parents, students, neighbours on each side of […]

Five Things I’m Grateful For – 2022 Edition

I’m not much of a New Year’s Resolution guy (“I’m going to lose weight this year!”  Pandemic continues.  “Shit!”) but always good to take account of the things you’re grateful for at this time of year.  Who knows – maybe this could become another annual post tradition? Anyhow… 1.  My Family So fortunate to have […]

Saturday Snap – Made It To Midnight!

If I was taking bets on who wouldn’t make it to midnight, it’d be Shea or I before these two! 😉

Happy 69th Birthday, Dennis!

Happy birthday to my father-in-law who turns 69 today. Here’s a pic of him and Pace standing in front of a tractor we stumbled upon in an Estevan parking lot that happens to be the exact same model as the first tractor they had on their farm, I think roughly when he was Pace’s age.

Music Monday – “Send your letters off to Santa, baby/Tell him all your secret wishes too/Send your letters off to Santa, baby/Hoping all your wildest dreams come true”

It’s not quite December but we’ve already had our tree up for a couple weeks (which was also the timing last year – anything for some extra joy in Covid times!) and spent Sunday morning wrapping presents so I figured it’s time to start sharing some Christmas music too. Oh, and speaking of wrapping presents, […]
