Heading to the Student Council's “Talent Show” Coffee House soon. I'm signed up to read some poetry which is guaranteed to be more “show” than “talent”.
Here's a sample of one poem (2.3 MB mp3) I'll be reading. The recording is from the 2003 Calgary Stroll of Poets – sorry about the poor sound quality.
Linda asked me if I was going to read or write something specifically about library school but unfortunately, no inspiration was forthcoming so it's all old stuff tonight. Maybe next time…

for anyone who missed it, Jason's reading of RANDOM THOUGHTS last night was as good, if not better than his Calgary reading AND he secretly played guitar at the end of the night – as did Paul — so I am FULLY expecting a PACKED COFFEE HOUSE for next semester with these guys on the bill!
What a coffee house! AMazing stories from Nicole, Meg, Rebecca and Graham — a performance by Ryan Madden (!) public libraries vs jeez-us and the overzealous, religious right. There was spectacular yo-yoing by colin accompanied by the unbeatable Greg on pian-na and I'll be humming RHODE ISLAND IS FAMOUS FOR YOU for weeks now thanks to the sweet voice of Jessica (and Greg on the ivories). Mike's bare toes wiggled & wrapped around the bar stool he perched on to sing to us and play guitar…throwing back his head for Sonia…Gilian made us laugh…Did I forget anything? I wish I'd met these people earlier, many are graduating and the program won't be the same without them…
