Today, Reddit had an official blog post about their “Gold” program where you can either buy an annual membership or “gild” someone with gold for one-off comments and now posts. Gold members (like myself) get added benefits on the site including the ability to save comments and as part of their blog post, they listed […]
Recently read an article about up & coming Canadian start-ups which mentioned Pebble and these guys whose product looks amazing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWu9TFJjHaM
A graphical representation of different phases of Reddit’s evolution over time. I joined in January 2007 (and probably was a lurker for a bit of time before that) so that’s a few years before Reddit exploded around 2010, roughly around the time that Digg, which I was never a big fan of, went into freefall. Just discovered that Reddit has a sub-Reddit dedicated solely to photos of amazing and cool bookshelves. If you sort it by “Top” vote getting submissions, you might never go to another sub-Reddit again! 😉 Probably a good lesson for libraries in here somewhere too…
Reddit has a recurring feature where notable (and not-so-notable) people can show up for an AMA (Ask Me Anything) interactive chat session. [2013-08-26 – Update: This probably isn’t too surprising but there’s some strong evidence that many celebrity AMA’s – including the Ethan Hawke one listed below – are actually done by a PR person, […]

Now *that’s* customer service! 😉 If politics is like sport, losing the leadership race by 44 votes […]
There are two kinds of Internet celebrities – those who get famous for something they did online (anyone from Justin Bieber to Psy to Paris Hilton and so on.) Then there are Internet celebrities who are famous for what they’ve *continually* do online (anyone from Cory Doctorow to Lawrence Lessig to Julian Assange and so […]
Very interesting behind-the-scenes look at how Obama’s Reddit AMA was proposed, how it happened and how it impacted his campaign. This was a day of political-campaign and Internet firsts, the sitting president subjecting himself to a free- for-all question-and-answer session with a hardcore community of pot-smoking freedom junkies who hated drones and loved porn and […]
…is to come up with ideas that are the “first of a kind”. Last time, it was the idea for the Money Bomb (see #3 on the linked list) which was the first ever in Canadian politics. This time, it was putting forward the idea for a Reddit AMA which was the first ever by a Saskatchewan politician. Of […]
