I’ve got a bit of an informal Americana “camping music” theme going this month with Jason Isbell last week and now Son Volt this week… “Tear Stained Eye” – Son Volt
I missed posting yesterday since we were camping and my cell data was close to going over so I was trying to minimize anything I did online (er, some would point out that’s probably a good approach to camping in general!) 😉 Anyhow, by not posting a Saturday Snap, I ended up taking a great […]
Reddit, which has just undergone its first redesign in a decade, recently passed Facebook as the third most trafficked site in the United States. Being able to find any kind of timely information you want – for example, ideas for some new music to listen to at your campsite – is a big part of why […]
It’s going to be hard to top how well everything – weather, neighbours who had kids around our kids’ ages, view – worked out at our seasonal site last year. But having spent the May long weekend at our seasonal site at Nickle Lake Regional Park, we’re off to a pretty good start! Shea’s Parents […]
We didn’t get a fire ban until the end of summer last year. But it’s been crazy dry the last couple years so here we go right at the start of the camping season (and yes, the regional park we’re booked into won’t escape without a fire ban either until some rain comes.) 🙁 Thank goodness […]
For the upcoming summer, we weren’t sure whether we’d end up camping at a provincial park like we did last year or if we’d switch to a regional park. Both have advantages and disadvantages but with Shea’s mom undergoing cancer treatment, it made our decision to go to Nickle Lake Regional Park where her folks have […]
As a precaution, Sasha put on her boots and brother’s skateboarding helmet at New Year’s to play the lifesize Jenga game that Grandpa Dennis made for us. I’d upload the video of the game finally toppling when Grandma Joan tried a difficult move but I jumped pretty high myself when it toppled over! 😉
I’ve finally had time to go through all the pictures (2000+!) that I took over the course of the entire summer and winnow them down to a handful of favourites. That’s still more than most people should have to sit through at a single sitting so what I did was create a long slideshow with […]
Another thing that made our summer so amazing was the non-stop music… …that we played from morning to night (okay, Shea’s not as big of a music fan as I am and occasionally asked for some peace and quiet to read her book!) Above is a graph of how many individual songs I played each […]
It could’ve easily gone the other way. If we’d had a rainy summer, if we had neighbours who played loud rap until all hours of the morning (nothing against rap – just not my idea of campground music), if we hadn’t been able to get out to our site as much as we did, if […]
