There are lots of interesting angles to the Queen’s death – cultural, historical, sociological, religious, etc. etc. – but one that fascinates me is this notion of “decorum”…
There’s a parallel to gun violence in the States where politicians will quickly say “It’s not the time” to talk about gun violence…right after a mass shooting.
The ceremony and spectacle of the Queen’s death led to a clampdown on any sort of act of civil disobedience or exercise of free speech…
"While we struggle to heat our homes, we have to pay for your parade…"
I mean, these aren’t divinely appointed rulers, they’re just normal humans…
This video made me view Harry as somebody who would have made a great king… And at the same time what he shares only strengthened my sentiment that in 2022 monarchy serves no purpose whatsoever https://t.co/nYM7jPuR7M
We don’t consider ourselves “foodies” per se but Shea and I often talk about the restaurant meals we’ve had that “made our mouths dance”.
This rarity happens when we find a combination of unique flavours from fresh ingredients created by great chefs. (Side note: highly recommend “The Bear” if you haven’t seen it.)
A Korean restaurant in Montreal. Garlic-themed restaurants in both Calgary and London. A roadside seafood stand in Kauai. A Lebanese restaurant in an all-inclusive in Mexico (yes, really!)
We were looking for this type of meal last night and decided on Siam Thai which we hadn’t visited in years.
We were *not* disappointed with the pineapple fried rice, served in an actual pineapple, being a highlight!
(I don’t use Instagram but whenever I take pics of food, I always joke “This is for my Instagram.” But I guess my blog occasionally fills a similar purpose!)
Went to a few garage sales while camping in Weyburn and one person had set-up a Square account to accept credit card payments!
(And what’s $8 get you at a garage sale these days? A brand new tarp still in the plastic, a power bar, an extension cord, and a multi-head screwdriver! I did okay but Shea hit the jackpot at a different one getting three brand new insulated wine goblets, normally $15 each, for $0.50 each!).
