Retro Friday Fun Link – “Can’t Tell The Kids About Those Days”

Some more backdated weekend posts just because…

Throwback Thursday – #tbt – Broken Leg (October 2009)

Breaking my wrist last week means I made it nearly a decade since my last broken bone (and Pace remains equally horrified/fascinated by my latest injury!)

Cost of A Broken Wrist? USA = ~$10,000, Canada = $12

Doing a lot of reading about various aspects of the scaphoid bone I broke in my wrist and always shocked to see American sites talking about the cost of healthcare (~$6000 – $10,000 for the x-rays, hospital stay and surgery I had) or how they would forego treatment completely due to a lack of health insurance.

I think Shea paid $12 for one day of parking (she left so late the first evening we arrived at the hospital, the gate was open and she didn’t have to pay that day then she paid $12 our second day and then we parked on the street when I popped back into the hospital’s cast clinic my third day for a thumb splint which I was surprised I didn’t even have to pay for, having had to buy my crutches when I broke my leg a decade ago.)

We are extremely fortunate to have universal healthcare in Canada and times like this are when I appreciate it the most!

I’ll Just Leave This Here…
