Information overload is a well-known condition these days and the situation is only getting worse as more useful web sites, more granulated social networks and more cool media outlets gain popularity and battle for your attention. I’ve been thinking a lot about that and increasingly, I find myself wishing there was a single web site […]
So I was one of the lucky 100 who got to attend TedXRegina on Wednesday at the ShuBox Theatre at the U of R. Here are some random thoughts about the day… – never realised until the night before while checking out the #tedxregina hashtag on Twitter that there were only 100 seats available as […]
After an extremely long day, I’m pretty tired. Hopefully I’ll revisit my TedxRegina experience in the next day or two. But for now…
“Wake Up Moms, You’re Fighting the Wrong Fight” – points out that it’s ridiculous to argue about the recent Time breastfeeding cover and instead, all US moms should be pushing for a benefit that new moms in the vast majority of the world get – paid maternity leave. You can tell which sites I’ve had the longest history on by looking at my user name on the site. If it’s not “Headtale” then you know it’s a site I’ve been on for a LONG time – probably around 10-15 years. There only a handful of sites that fit this criteria – CalgaryPuck, a […]
Unfortunately, a lot of the Top 10 dying industries have a direct connection to libraries whether it’s DVD’s, newspapers or recordable media. On the other hand, a lot of the Top 10 booming industries don’t – unless libraries want to start building solar panels or hot sauces (!).
These are two pretty amazing videos – a father takes a brief video of his daughter every week for twelve years (and separately, his son for nine years) then splices them together into a short time lapse video. I wish I had the dedication to do something like this with Pace – but once every […]
Like I suspect is the case for a lot of people who came of age in the 1980’s, I would spend hours making mix tapes when I was young – tapes featuring different artists, different themes, different moods. At the time, mix tapes were created by dubbing favourite songs from your own small cassette collection, borrowing […]
