Throwback Thursday – #tbt – EPL vs. CPL (Aug 2019, Feb 2022)

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting both the newly built Calgary Public Library Central Branch (in 2019) and newly-refurbished Edmonton Public Library (in 2022).

And you know what?

Newly built or refurbished, both are incredible libraries in their own ways with the main thing they have in common is both cities embracing the value of having a landmark Central library as a community hub; a catalyst for innovation, culture, and learning; and even as a tourist attraction.

(This graphic was apparently shown at a Flames game as a shot at Edmonton since Edmonton’s library *does* look a bit “tank-like” from the outside.  But Oilers fans online were quick to point out that if you compare arenas, Stanley Cup banners or NHL record holders between the two cities, Edmonton is far ahead.  Sadly can’t argue with that…no matter how many library books I read on the subject!)
