The Roud Folk Song Index

Doing some quick research about yesterday’s post led to me to discover the Roud Folk Song Index which I don’t think I’d heard of before but which reminds me once again (as if I need reminding!), why librarians and archivists are so vital to society (and also interesting, witty and funny!):

The Roud Folk Song Index is a database of around 250,000 references to nearly 25,000 songs collected from oral tradition in the English language from all over the world. It is compiled by Steve Roud, a former librarian in the London Borough of Croydon.
