While others on the dias wore thin trench coats and fancy outfits, Bernie Sanders demonstrated his ever-practical side, showing up on a cold Inauguration Day with a heavy parka and some very memorable mittens.
A single photo of him sitting alone and looking like his usual grumpy self became a worldwide meme as people inserted the iconic image of Bernie sitting in front of famous landmarks, integrated into well-known artworks, album covers, sporting events and more.
(A site made by a NYU Grad Student allowed anyone to easily place Bernie’s image in front of any location in the world but has been shut down due to its popularity! Bernie even made a visit to our house but I have to note that the photo above from Google Maps is before we bought the house and the crappy grass has been zeroscaped with crushed rock!))
There were many variations of the image including this one which showed Bernie’s casual approach to the entire inauguration:

At any rate, I take this worldwide phenomena as the equivalent of everyone letting out a deep breath after four years of Trump!
