The Price of Gas Is Lower Than When I Started Working As A Gas Station in High School!

This is from Medicine Hat, Alberta, not Indian Head, Saskatchewan.

But it’s absolutely insane that a litre of gas now costs *less* than when I started working at a gas station in 1989 when gas was 45.9 cents per litre  (49.9 for Supreme!) – a number imprinted on my brain the same way I still remember that the cash register SKU for a litre of oil was #1, cigarettes were #7 and chips were #15! 🙂

The immediate impacts of the Coronavirus pandemic are serious but I’m equally worried about the long-term impacts – for homeowners and businesses and workers.

The price of oil was already plummeting before the pandemic due to price wars between Saudi Arabia and Russia but the price of oil, in our resource-based economy, stirs into the mix of economic bad news we’re already dealing with which lead to increased uncertainty and anxiety about the future as well.
