I can’t find a reference to it on my blog which is sort of surprising since I’ll take any validation I can get!

But anyhow, last year, the campground we have a seasonal site had a Canada Day decorating contest and since we were new and wanted to make a good impression, we went all out and made a massive display with tri-fold displays, books from my personal library on Canadian themes, representations of Canadian sports and even a Bluetooth speaker playing some great Canadian tunes.

We still ended up losing first place to a woman who just bought a couple hundred (literally!) bucks worth of Dollar Store junk but the judges were so impressed with our entry that they actually added a second place prize and we got a Nickle Lake t-shirt and hat!

Which is all a long way to say that Canada Day snuck up on me this year and my entry was a bit more underwhelming for that reason…
