One of the coolest things about being in England during the height of the mid-90s Britpop era was being exposed to so much great music. Obviously Oasis was one of the biggest bands of that era and paid homage to the Beatles in various ways – mostly looks, lyrics and musical references.

But I became a huge fan of The Boo Radleys who I saw as the true successor to The Beatles – constantly innovative, melodic, experimental, etc. I probably can’t put the distinction into words better than in this recent PitchFork retro review of The Boos’ breakout 1993 album, “Giant Steps”.
