Music Monday – “When the night has come/And the land is dark/And the moon is the only light we’ll see” (RIP Ben E. King)

Is there a better coming-of-age movie than “Stand By Me”?  And the title song of that movie is part of the reason it had such an impact on me.

I remember seeing “Stand By Me” in the theatre in Indian Head when I was about 13 years old then walking out into the street and not being able to get the song, which I don’t think I’d ever heard before, out of my head.

Here’s a tribute version performed by Tracy Chapman on the David Letterman show after the recent passing of Ben E. King.
