Someone on Reddit posted their girlfriend’s reaction at various points during tonight’s episode of “Breaking Bad” and I’d concur…
Fans are already calling it “the greatest episode of television in history” and I’d say if not, it’s pretty damn close!
Like the majority of the show’s millions of fans, Shea and I came late to the “Breaking Bad” phenomenon, binge-watching episodes we downloaded from BitTorrent sites beginning to Season 2 and, like the meth that’s the central to the show’s premise, the show was also beyond addictive. We’d watch a couple episodes in a row each evening then I’d beg Shea to watch just one more but she’d always be a responsible adult and tell me that we needed to get some sleep! 😉
I haven’t watched every contender for “Best Show Ever” (Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Sopranos, The Wire, etc.) but I can’t imagine how any of them could combine all the elements that make “Breaking Bad” what it is (and has made it the third highest rated TV program of all-time on IMDB, only being beaten by a couple highly regarded nature documentary series.)
Breaking Bad = highly original premise. Brilliant writing and acting. Unbelievable cinematography. Amazing characters. Mixture of humour, suspense, action. Tons of inside jokes and hidden symbolism sprinkled throughout – the show had it all.
