"Dakota" – The Stereophonics

Because I can't think of anything else to write, here's one of my favourite songs of the past year or so.  (I was going to link to “Wake Up Boo!” by the Boo Radleys which is one of my favourite songs of the past 10 years or so but the video was taken down!  Damn copyright…)

    Very nice.
It's a bit poppier than I would have imagined your taste to be, but the Stereophonics are fabulous.
(Are they touring in the near future, do you know?)

When I was in England, a friend and I were talking about music and I asked “who do you like?” and she said, that's not really a fair question since most people like a little bit of everything – it's better to ask “who do you have the most of?” which I always remembered and use to this day.
So if that's the question, “The Beatles” are who I have the most of but that's quickly followed by “anything mid-1990's Britpop” which extends to Blur, Oasis, Stone Roses, Boo Radleys, Stereophonics, Supergrass, Pulp, Radiohead (though they, like the Boos, would hate to be lumped in this category) and so on – all of which are probably fairly poppy for the most part.
Did you mean are the Boo Radleys touring or Stereophonics? The Boo Radleys actually broke up in 1999 but their lead songwriter, Martin Carr, has continued as more of an electronic-based songwriter. He works under the name BraveCaptain – it's worth checking out his stuff too if you like the Boos (who are probably one of my favourite bands of all time – and the true “next Beatles” out of all the various contenders who claim that throne.)
As for Stereophonics, Shea and I had tickets to see them when we were in Calgary but they cancelled, just because of a little Rocky Mountain blizzard. Not sure if they're touring anytime soon.
The Beautiful South – who I also lump as Britpop but probably aren't – are going to be in Toronto in a couple weeks so I'm hoping to get to that show as an early Christmas present to myself.
