Everything Is Too Complicated – What Are Tech Companies Assuming We Know?

A good article which is especially relevant to libraries where we hear many tech-related questions every day and struggle with how far we go with our tech-support role, how we train staff to answer tech questions and whether “Tech Help Desk” is the new “Reference Desk” for the modern library. Think of the tech industry […]

Friday Fun Link – Best Social Media Management & Analysis Tools

I don’t do a huge amount of this on my own blog/FB/Twitter/etc. but still useful to know what tools are out there for managing all aspects of your online presence – tracking mentions, controlling content, your social media reach and so on.

Friday Fun Link – Hot Ones “Hot Sauce Challenge”

I stumbled across this YouTube series¬†and am completely hooked. The conceit is that a hot sauce company challenges various “B” level celebrities to eat wings with a variety of ever-increasing hot sauces on them while also conducting an interview. I haven’t watched them all but here are some of my favourite interviews so far…

YouTube Policy Changes – Censorship or Just Good Business Practice?

I think I’ve mentioned before that one of my highest marks in library school was, ironically, for the one class I took within our faculty but outside our department – a “History of Information” course that was offered through the journalism school. My final presentation in that class was about the future of online video […]

Music Monday – “I just wanna Rolly Rolly Rolly with a dab of ranch/I already got some designer to hold up my pants/I just want some ice on my wrist so I look better when I dance/Have you lookin’ at it, put you in a trance”

Not the most traditional campfire song but here’s another Music Monday song that we’re hearing a lot at our seasonal campsite thanks to Pace who’s a bit more plugged into current music trends than I am. ūüėČ (One fun highlight of our most recent weekend was watching him create various playlists on our streaming music […]

“You got no right to take my joy/I want it back” #DearSask Protest Tribute Video #yqr #yxe #skpoli #SaveSKLibraries @saskmla @premierbradwall

I made a quick video of some of the highlights from the DEARSask protests that happened on Friday. ¬†These read-ins saw nearly 6000 people at 85¬†sites across the province protesting the drastic cuts to the province’s public libraries. My biggest problem making this video? ¬†Way too many pictures to choose¬†from! So this video includes a […]

Walking Tours on YouTube

Shea recently told me a great tip – YouTube has numerous walking/running tours that you can put on your TV while using your treadmill. What a great way to make time on the treadmill more interesting!

Saturday Snap – “Doritos Roulette” Challenge

One fun thing about being on holidays is that Pace and I spontaneously decided to go grab some late night snacks tonight after both Sasha and mom were in bed. He likes regular Doritos but decided to try a flavour that’s mostly regular Doritos but also has some super-hot ones mixed in (even though he’s […]

Sandos Caracol! Two Weeks From Today!! (And A Bit About How To “Know Before You Go”)

Because the Internet – everything from YouTube to Instagram, TripAdvisor to Twitter, mommy bloggers to¬†travel bloggers and much¬†much¬†more¬†– allows you to get a sense of travel destinations before you go, I sometimes think the anticipation of a trip is (almost) as good as the trip itself. Okay, maybe not… ūüėČ (Oh, and if you find […]
