Sasha is One Month Old!

I’ve been taking at least a photo of Sasha every day since she was born.

I’d seen various videos made from daily pics of babies, kids and others over the years but didn’t put a lot of thought into doing this with Sasha until, oh, pretty much the day she was born.

While hanging out with Shea and Sasha in the mother & baby unit, I downloaded an app that claimed to help you with this process.  I used it for awhile but after a couple weeks, realised that the photos it took didn’t end up with a date stamp so if/when I exported them, the dates and times they were taken wouldn’t be on the photos but instead, all would have the time I exported them (wouldn’t have been a problem if I immediately exported after taking but the app also had a couple other issues I realised later in the process that made me abandon it.)  I played around with a couple other apps but nothing ended up being any better than just taking a picture with the iPhone’s camera and putting it in a folder called “Sasha Daily”.

That means I don’t have a shadow guide to the previous day’s shot(s) like some Daily Photo apps do (and I didn’t have this in the initial app I downloaded either) so these pictures don’t create a true morphing effect where Sasha’s face stays in the same position from shot to shot (not that you could easily get this with a wiggling, squirming baby anyhow!).  And anyhow, I kinda like the effect with roughly the same framing for each shot but each one having her with a different head position, clothes and facial expression.

Oh, and I haven’t downloaded pictures since the weekend so this montage is missing photos from the last couple days of her first month.  (Normally I’m a bit of a perfectionist with these types of things and could’ve just easily e-mailed them to myself from my iPhone to round out the video properly.  But did I mention I’m too sleep-deprived to care too much?) 😉

Anyhow, enjoy (and watch for one shot that’s a possible preview of our thank-you cards – another thing that’s taking longer to get to then we’d hoped!)
