I’ve made no secret of my love of lists and how this is the best time of the year for lists.  Here are a few things I’ve come across in the last few weeks that I wanted to share…

• Why the Media Insists on Publishing Year-End Lists Before the Year’s End – with a good analysis of the various why they bother publishing lists at all
• The Atlantic also weighs in with ” In Defense of Top 10 Lists” as does the New York Times which weighs in with some thoughts on Top Ten lists written, of course, in Top Ten List form.
• Buzzfeed highlights the 45 Most Powerful Images of 2011
• Imgur’s Best Images of 2011 – as the main image host for Reddit, this list tends to have more memes and more amateur content than other best-of image lists like the Buzzfeed one I linked to above
• Longform is a site that focuses on longer essays and writing around the web.  They’ve got a Best of 2011 list as well.
