ETIG at CLA

I think I mentioned previously that I've been asked to represent public libraries on an Emerging Technologies Interest Group pre-conference panel.  If you're a CLA member, you may have received a News Flash last week that this pre-conference session, along with a few others, were closed due to low registration numbers.

Fear not – I've received word from the organizers of the sessions – Amanda Etches-Johnson and Amy Buckland that the session is going ahead “off grid” (ie. not as part of the “official” CLA conference.)  Even better, by going off-grid, the session is now $40 rather than $100.

So if you're going to CLA or if you're in or near Montreal or if you're looking for a weekend holiday at the end of May, why not take a look at this session, whether you're a chiphead or not?  (A former boss at the Sask Publishers Group dubbed me a “chiphead”.  I tell myself it was a term of endearment and really, she she was married to a chiphead herself so why not?  And come to think of it, they live in Montreal now and her chiphead husband helps run a very cool web hosting company that will donate 25% of any web hostings fees they receive back to a charity of your choice!)

Anyhow, I've got some ideas percolating for what to talk about and I'm pretty excited to be part of the same line-up as Jessamyn West.  We had a blast at the “Books & Beers” I organized after the Sask Library Association conference last year and I'm not the only one who enjoyed meeting Jessamyn…
