Oscar's First Photo

We had an ultrasound today.  Unfortunately they didn't provide VHS or DVD video nor allow us to record even a short clip ourselves (it is a diagnostic procedure after all.  But man, are they ever missing out on a guaranteed cash cow if they provided that option!)

Anyhow, they did give us some photos including the first 3-D shot of “Oscar Beckham Hammond”.  (Uhm, I think I mentioned before that Oscar isn't the actual name we've picked.  Neither is “Beckham” but it is new.  I thought baby needed a middle name too, that, like Oscar for his/her early grouchiness, reflected his/her current athletic regime of kicking Shea in the kidneys every five minutes!)   Here's Oscar…

Shea's got a few more on her Flickr account.  She also finally found the perfect t-shirt.  Too bad they only had small sizes and it won't fit in a few more weeks.  (And on a completely personal note, doesn't she look smokin' in this photo? )

There's another shirt she should get. It has a big M in a shield and says “I make milk; what's your superpower?”
When did they stop offering VHS/DVD copies of the ultrasound? We got some from both sprogs. That's a shame. Nice photo, though. Sure is a handsome foetus!

That's a good one. I know Shea's spent some time looking at different sites that have all manner of witty/hilarious/crazy t-shirts aimed at new moms.
No idea on why they didn't give us a DVD/VHS. Shea heard on a local baby message board that they did it but when we called to confirm, they said “no, this is a *diagnostic* procedure.” They wouldn't even let me record a short clip on my digital camera which was pretty disappointing.
BTW, we went to the one at Albert and Parliament, across from the Rainbow Cinemas. Is that where you went?

No. We went to…ummm…I think it might have been in the General…er…I was pregnant at the time, and can't remember anything from that period.
I *do* remember getting some tests done at that particular clinic, though, and my doctor recommended I not go there ever again. He gave specific instructions to me, that if they told me I had to do X before the test, they could call him and discuss it with him, because apparently they weren't supposed to be asking me to do X. Sure enough, they asked me to do X, and I refused, and told them to call him, and they got really, really snotty with me, and I told them again to call him, and when I went back to him that afternoon with the test results and told him what had happened, he called his receptionist in and told her to unschedule all the appointments all of his patients had with that clinic and to reschedule them at a different place.
Our doctor and our doula recommended the clinic we went to because they did do the VHS stuff for us, as long as we brought our own tape. Damn. I'll have to ask His Nibs where it was. Stupid pregnant brain.
